"This is the day that the Lord has made: We will rejoice and be glad in it." Psalm 118:24
What are we waiting for? We postpone our lives for a multitude of reasons. "I must loose this weight"... I need that new house... when my children grow up... when I have love... when I finish this project... when I get that new job... Then and only then, I'll live life in full.
We don't see the sun spilling across the leaves on a particularly brilliant day, hear a child's laughter, see a friend's smile, help a stranger along the way, or take time to comfort a friend.
We hold emotions in reserve waiting for... something. We pace through our lives barely noticing the rare and perfect gift of the day. Each sunrise breaks with beauty and promise. Every sunset seals the day and brings a time of rest.
This is the day.
From sunrise to sunset God wants us to live in the day. He wants us to rejoice and be glad. He wants us to see each day for what it is, a gift from Him, in which we can complete His purposes for us. We take our days for granted, we forget that the Bible tells us that it will end in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye.
"The day of the Lord's return will surprise us like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a loud noise, and the heat will melt the whole universe. Then the earth and everything on it will be seen for what they are. Everything will be destroyed. So you should serve and honor God by the way you live... My friends, while you are waiting, you should make certain that the Lord finds you pure, spotless, and living at peace." 2Peter 3:8,14 "We pray for God's power to help you do all the good things that you hope to do and that your faith makes you want to do. Then, because God and our Lord Jesus Christ are so kind, you will bring honor to the name of our Lord Jesus and he will bring honor to you." 2 Thess 1: 11
