"Surely you desire truth in the inner parts; you teach me wisdom in the inmost place. Clean me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Let me hear joy and gladness; let the bones you have crushed rejoice. Hide your face from my sins and blot out all my iniquity. Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit to sustain me." Psalm 51:10
Are you weighed down like a swimmer with heavy clothes on?
Try a little lightness of heart; the simplicity of cleanness before God.
Are you having trouble hearing or seeing where to go with your life? Make a place where the Holy Spirit can stand to dwell, clean the house, and he'll move in.
"The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him - the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of power, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord - and he will delight in the fear of the Lord. He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes or decide by what he hears with his ears; but with righteousness he will judge." Isaiah 11: 2-4
The answers to the riddles that beset us often lay at our finger tips, just waiting for us to see them. When we eliminate the smokescreen we've laid down with our wrong motives and selfish desires, it suddenly becomes clear. When we clean out our hearts, we can see the purpose we were meant to accomplish and the joy of purity of heart and motive.
Why do you think the folks of the Old Testament often took a sacrifice to the temple when seeking direction? Wasn't that sacrifice for the forgiveness of sin? What is the barrier between God, the All Knowing and man, His creation? Isn't it sin? Oh, we love the stuff that weighs us down sometimes, but like a drowning man wrapped in golden chains, we've got to shed that weight, or go down into the darkness alone. "I will make an agreement with them. I will write my laws on their minds and hearts. Then I will forget about their sins and no longer remembers their evil deeds. When sins are forgiven, there is no more need to offer sacrifices... So let's come near God with pure hearts and a confidence that comes from having faith. Let's keep our hearts pure, our consciences free from evil, and our bodies washed with clean water." Hebrews 10:16-18,22
What are you hanging on to? Is it worth it? Does it bring you joy, peace and rest? Do you wake up in the morning with a lightness of heart? You choose. Just say..."Create in me a Clean Heart O God".
